Two Teenagers from Bihar Build ₹1 Crore Snack Brand ‘Shuddh Swad’, Reviving India’s Traditional Flavours

Shudh Swaad

In an era ruled by fast food chains and packaged snacks, two teenage boys from Bihar are rewriting India’s snack story — one homemade thekua at a time. What started as a small kitchen experiment born from an unfortunate food experience has now grown into Shuddh Swad, a ₹1 crore homegrown brand that’s winning hearts across the country with its pure, hygienic, and nostalgic Indian treats.

A Bite That Changed Everything

The idea for Shuddh Swad took root when Jayanta, one of the founders, fell ill after eating a thekua from a roadside stall. The incident left him determined to change the way traditional Indian snacks were made and served.

He realised that while snacks like thekua, laddoos, and makhana hold immense emotional and cultural significance, they were often unhygienic, overpriced, or available only during festive seasons. Jayanta decided to make these authentic flavours accessible year-round — safely and affordably.

Finding a Partner in Purpose

When Jayanta shared his vision with his friend Kailash, the idea instantly resonated. Kailash, a school dropout who once sold water bottles at railway stations to support his family, saw this as a chance not just to earn, but to build something meaningful.

Together, the duo started small — experimenting from home, working up to ten hours a day to perfect their recipes. From thekua to banana chips, besan laddoos, and makhana, they focused on one goal: offering clean, affordable, and authentic versions of India’s beloved snacks without compromising on taste or tradition.

Turning Struggles into Success

The early days were challenging. For the first two months, Shuddh Swad didn’t receive a single order. Friends and relatives doubted their idea. But Jayanta and Kailash persisted, refining their recipes, promoting their journey on Instagram, and connecting with communities nostalgic for homemade flavours.

Gradually, their authenticity struck a chord. Orders began to flow — first from small towns, then from metro cities. What started in a modest kitchen soon evolved into a nationwide online brand, delivering traditional snacks across India.

Today, Shuddh Swad has served over 3 lakh customers and achieved ₹1 crore in sales, proving that passion, purity, and perseverance can turn even the simplest ideas into national success stories.
